Originally built in 1889 was by the founder of the Aspen Times newspaper, the Observatory is a historic Aspen landmark. In 2002, it won the Colorado Award for Remodeling Excellence, combining its whimsical Victorian nature with state-of-the-art amenities and appliances along with a collection of over 50 pieces of renowned art, representing many of the artists who have shown works at the Aspen Art Museum, the Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, the Baldwin Gallery, and museums across the country.
