McLain Flats

McLain Flats is one of Aspen’s most idyllic neighborhoods. The area was once home to a large swath of ranchland before being subdivided and developed into real estate. The community has a few subdivisions that live up to their names—such as White Star Ranch, Star Mesa, and White Horse Springs—with scenes of grazing horses and the most spectacularly clear night skies on Earth.

Discover McLain Flats Real Estate

The area of McLain Flats—which is centered on McLain Flats Road, about 10 minutes outside of downtown Aspen—is considered a scenic and affluent area. Real estate consists of large ranches and estate properties, which feature astonishing views of the Elk Mountains. This community is comparable to Red Mountain, in the sense that these properties are very large, often with significant acreage attached. However, prices are more moderate than Red Mountain. Although McLain Flats doesn’t quite have the billionaire name recognition and it’s farther away from the Aspen Central Core, it also offers a more secluded lifestyle with plenty of quietness and solitude.

Like many of the other communities around Aspen, real estate for sale in McLain Flats is diverse in architecture and design, with homes ranging from more traditional cottages and cabins, to very contemporary styles. Lots are large, and the most luxurious properties on the real estate market can reach 10,000 or even 20,000 square feet in size—and this often means additional buildings and rental opportunities.

For the right buyer, McLain Flats is a more desirable option to Red Mountain or any neighborhood in Aspen. McLain Flats’ luxury estates for sale are generally new and designed to take advantage of the surrounding landscape. That means expansive windows to take in the extraordinary views and sprawling patios, gardens, and lawns for entertainment. The views of the north faces of the Elk Mountains are one of the most impressive in Colorado.

The community also maintains some of its original ranching character with wooden fences and horses galore. Privacy is the name of the game around here, and the peaceful silence each night will take your breath away.
