Snowmass Homes For Sale

Since its inception in 1967, Snowmass Village has been a staple of Colorado's ski country. This world-class destination resort offers ski-in ski-out access to over 70% of its properties. The Village has experienced a property boom in the last decade, mainly in the condo and townhome sector, where several new developments have been completed. The ski mountain is the largest in the Aspen area; with 3,348 acres of skiable terrain, it’s nearly five times the size of Aspen Mountain and over three times the size of Aspen Highlands.

Luxury Slopeside Living

Though Snowmass Village is known for its base village and ski-in ski-out condos, it also offers plenty of single-family homes. The Village has become an excellent place for families looking to live in Aspen full-time and second-home owners looking to spend a month or two a year.

Single-family homes in Snowmass Village depend on the neighborhood. The largest and most popular neighborhoods are Ridge Run and Wood Run, which are partly ski-in ski-out. Homes not ski-in ski-out are just a short walk from the slopes. These homes were mainly built in the 70’s and 80’s and retain a distinct architectural style from that period.

Melton Creek and Fox Run offer larger properties with great views but no direct ski access. The Pines and Two Creeks feature Snowmass’s largest single-family ski homes, averaging over 6,000 square feet. Horse Ranch has excellent views and is proximate to the surrounding wilderness. Meanwhile, Divide is Snowmass Village’s Red Mountain, with large, private, ski-in ski-out homes; it has the most expensive sales.

Things To Do in Snowmass

Snowmass Ski Resort

We can thank Snowmass Mountain for the fantastic real estate opportunities of Snowmass Village. This ski hill is one of Colorado’s finest, with 4,406 feet of vertical drop—among the most in the U.S.—as well as 3,342 acres of skiable terrain. The mountain is best for strong intermediates, who will love the abundance of blue groomers and easy off-piste skiing. Snowmass is undoubtedly the best introduction to off-piste and tree skiing in the Aspen area. There are plenty of less steep, gladed tree skiing zones compared to Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands, which are a haven for experts but less accessible to everybody else.

Snowmass Bike Park

In recent years, Snowmass has made massive strides in the development of a world-class downhill mountain biking park. It’s now one of the best parks in the U.S. You’ll find a mix of machine-built flow and technical trails. French Press, an intermediate flow trail, descends the entire park from top to bottom. Animal Crackers and Cowboy Coffee are advanced tech trails with drops and rock gardens. Valhalla offers excellent table-top jumps for intermediate-to-expert riders. Gonzo is a double black, expert-only trail with massive drops and gap jumps.

Snowmass Club Golf Course

The Snowmass Club was initially developed in 1980 as part of the master plan to establish a year-round resort. The Jim Engh-designed course is the highest elevation in the Roaring Fork Valley, at 8,300 ft. The altitude increases driving power but makes it challenging to cut shots. You’ll have to adapt your game.

Maroon Creek Trailhead

The Maroon Creek Trailhead, accessible by car only during the summer, is one of the best trailheads in the Roaring Fork Valley. It’s the gateway to the Maroon Snowmass Wilderness, which protects a large swath of the Elk Mountains and is home to some of the most famous natural environments in the world, like the Maroon Bells. In total, there are seven 14,000-foot peaks in this wilderness, including Capital Peak and Snowmass (the mountain, not the ski resort).

JAS Festival

The Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival has become a regional institution. It has two main events: a June festival in downtown Aspen that showcases traditional jazz acts and a Labor Day weekend festival that features pop acts. The festival is one of the largest events in the Roaring Fork Valley, with 10,000 people descending on Snowmass Town Park each day for the music. Past acts have included iconic artists like Sting and Maroon 5.
